  1. What is out-of-network?

I am an “out of network” provider, which means if your insurance company offers out of network benefits, you should receive some reimbursement for the cost of my services.

Most insurance companies that provide out-of-network benefits cover between 50%-75% of the cost per session. Contact your insurance company to find out what your specific coverage is and if you have “out-of-network” benefits.

Psychotherapy

  1. Can therapy help me or my family?

Yes.  If you have exhausted other resources, it may be time to give therapy a chance.  If you have an open-mind and motivation to change, the change may come much quicker.

  2. What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness is being fully present in the moment; having a non-judgemental awareness of our moment-to-moment experiences as they are occurring rather than being lost in thought about the past or planning for the future. Through mindfulness practice we can learn to be less reactive and more intentional in our words and actions. We can become more intimately aware of our emotions and respond to them, rather than being swept away by them when they become very intense. Mindfulness practice can support us in leading a richer life as we learn to 'show up' and be present with all that life brings our way - whether it be pleasant, unpleasant or neutral.

  3. Explain mind-body...

The mind-body connection is deeply empowering for those struggling with connecting with the "now."  Our body is always in the present, while the mind may wonder from past to future.  Turning into the "now" is a technique powerful to the healthy mental state.

  4. How long will I be in treatment for?

Treatment varies from person to person.  Based on your clinical needs, treatment can vary to a couple of weeks, to a few months.  Some client's decide to continue with long term psychotherapy, which is also an option when appropriate.

Psychotherapy or Medication??

  1. How do I know if I need psychotherapy or medication?

The initial meeting we have is called an Intake Evaluation.  We will explore a range of issues to help determine the focus of treatment and diagnosis.  If needed, we can explore medication options.

Typically, the combination of both medicaiton and psychotherapy yield the best results but this really depends on the presenting issues. Ultimately both are the client's choice.

First time?

  1. This is my first time in treatment - what can I expect?

The first treatment session contains a psychological evaluation to determine current issues concerns, treatment goals, and appropriate level of care.  It is also an opportunity for you (the client) to explore how you feel working with Courtney Gregory as your Clinician.

The intake assessment typically takes 1 hour.
